El Levite, a gospel reggae artist, born Hilary Okechukwu Ogbuagu, in Obollo Eke, Nsukka, Nigeria to parents of Enugu State origin, El Levite’s early education began in Enugu and took him through Obollo High School. In 1998, he came to Lagos where he studied History and International Relations at the Lagos State University (LASU). A worship leader, songwriter and recording artist is a key member of the Breach Repairers Assembly music team who started singing at a very tender age. While in Secondary school, between 1990 and 1996, he got involved in Rastafarian movement by joining reggae club. His interest in the movement grew after listening to songs of Muta Baruka, Joseph Hills (Culture), Coco Tea, Beres Hammond, Freddie McGregor, Lt. Stitchie, Osmond Collins, Papa San, Frankie Paul and more… El Levite gave his life to Jesus and transmitted from a ‘ganja’ smoking Rastafarian to a chorister at Breach Repairers Assembly, Surulere, Lagos where he has remained till date. His 1st album titled Falling in Love was released in 2015. He is married to Nike and has ministered in church concerts including Pastor E.A Adeboye outreaches, Gathering of Stars organized by Chapel of Uncommon Grace, Ikeja Lagos, Nigeria – Indonesia Business Gathering at Eko Hotel, US Consulate, V/I Lagos, Street G, a monthly gospel concert at Rockview Hotel Lagos organized by Jheri Sixthsence, Vanguard Media Ltd End of Year Thanksgiving, Ragga Rage 2015 by Paul Persol at Akute, Ogun State and more… He had shared stages with Buchi, Helen Baylor, Righteousman, Jackie McCullough, Kore, Midnite Crew, Daniel Demos, Soji Israel, Plentyman NCPC, David Nkennor, and more.
